Julie Tenner's Bio:

Julie Tenner, The Pleasure Nutritionist and co-founder of Nourishing the Mother and mother of three is a Naturopath, specialising in women’s health, Birth Coach and Mothering Mentor on a mission to reconnect women to their pleasure and nourish so much more than just their bodies.
Beyond the nutrient impact of food
Frustrated with the paradigm of health and nutrition which sees women berate themselves for breaking their ‘food rules’, Julie’s approach looks beyond the nutrient impact of food to look at our beliefs, conditioning and uncover what it is that truly moves us as women, giving us to permission to receive, nourish and inspire – creating a ripple effect in our families and out into our communities.
When women say “yes” to themselves, they pave the way for those around them. When women awaken their sensuality, when they feel deliciously connected to who they are, when pleasure becomes part of them, not separate to them – they become a beacon for desire and magnificence.
For over a decade Julie has helped women reconnect to their magnificence – because relationships, health, birth and motherhood can be a luscious love affair.

Dana Lindzon’s Bio:

I am a Canadian Born Mother of 3 daughters. I originally moved to Holland in 1999 to continue my advanced studies at the Art Academy in Amsterdam- The Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Art and creativity were always at the centre of my life since my earliest days but when I became pregnant with my first daughter in 2005, the focus of my life was forever transformed. Nothing I’ve experienced so far was as remarkable or exciting as this first journey through pregnancy, the indescribable wild intensity of giving birth for the first time and then of course becoming a mother, a mother!!!!
Birth experience
This to me was true creation, and I couldn’t wait to go through it again. A real shift for me came in 2008 when I gave birth to my second daughter. My first daughter was born in a hospital. It was a positive experience, so we did not really think about our options and were planning on returning for the second birth as well. As things turned out, this second birth progressed so quickly, and so effortlessly, that there was no choice actually but to birth at home. I was given this huge gift that I had previously no real idea about, and had an amazing, life changing home birth experience. After this birth I felt like shouting from every rooftop: DO YOU KNOW WHAT BIRTH CAN BE LIKE!!!!!
I was drawn to every pregnant woman I saw and was on a mission to understand and share with women (any woman who would listen) what an incredibly positive, joyous, transformative experience birth can be. This was a defining moment in my life and the moment in which I feel that I truly became a doula. Since that birth I have been immersed in educating myself in everything I could find about birth, sifting through the current predominant disempowering beliefs and fears and getting to the roots of the transformative, empowering and sacred aspects of birth as mother nature intended, and which I have come to understand, is our birth-right as women. There was no turning back.
My 3rd daughter was born in 2011, this time it was a planned home birth. It has been a totally unexpected blessing to be able to support women in childbirth. I am now, besides being the proud, active mother to my 3 school aged children, a full time certified doula and birth coach, and an active presence in the Birth Community hosting workshops, events and gatherings on a regular basis for pregnant women, new mothers, women preparing for pregnancy and birth professionals in Amsterdam.

CAST 003 (In)fertility, Optimal Pelvic Health and Mercier Therapy
Its Episode 3 and we have Jennifer Mercier sharing with us some of her wisdom.
X Dr Kaz Jaffe
Jennifer Merciers Bio:

Jennifer’s passion is serving women with fertility issues, pelvic pain, general wellness matters, holistic breast care and newborn/infant cranio-sacral balancing.
Fertility challenges
During her undergraduate years Jennifer was preparing to attend medical school and at the same time was diagnosed with endometriosis and went to massage therapy school. It was a busy time indeed. In the early 90’s she worked as a clinician for the Center for Human Reproduction and learned so many amazing things as well as how broken the system really is in regards to how women are treated with fertility challenges. The cycles very rarely worked and when they did there were a lot of pregnancy losses. It started her thinking about the pelvic organs and how could we get this area to work more effectively. Especially if women were going to undergo numerous medically assisted cycles how could this process be less emotionally and physically charging? Jennifer observed marriages end and couples second mortgage their home just to undergo one more IVF cycle just for it to fail again. It broke her heart. Years later when she decided not to go to medical school she gave it some thought on how to proceed so she could effectively serve women with fertility challenges in a non-invasive way.
Jennifer ultimately decided to go into Midwifery and trained by apprentice in a myriad of different settings such as birth center, home and hospital. Over a span of 15 years she took care of women and their babies in a very gentle and respectful manner.
Jennifer also trained as a Naturopathic Doctor and graduated in 1999 from a wonderful program that had to close it’s doors due to low enrollment. Since graduating she’s traveled the world from the US, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico ,Canada, Europe and the Middle East studying with some amazing teachers in the field.
Jen is a healer, teacher, mother, director/producer, and practitioner.
Jennifers Resources:
- Centre for Human Reproduction, Chicago
- Ina May Gaskin
- Book – Susan Weed – Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year
- Book – Kate Jordan – Bodywork for the Childbearing Year: Student Handbook
