Such an important topic and when you hear the statistics that Joyce shares in this interview its truly so strange that we don’t talk about it more. The Blues, Depression….. We need to talk about it …

In the first few minutes that I met Kamini, I realised that we speak the same language. Although she is a pregnancy yoga teacher and myself a pregnancy chiropractor, we have the same beliefs and philosophies on birth, the pelvis, sitting, opening. She is so refreshing and I am thrilled to share her wisdom on the cast.
X Dr Kaz Jaffe
Kamini has worked as a massage therapist since 1998 and started teaching Yoga in 2008. She has had the privilege to study with various renowned teachers around the globe. Each one of them helped her deepen her understanding of the human body, and clarifying the interaction between body and mind.
In 2010 she decided to specialize in Pregnancy Yoga. From 2011 she studied with Katy Bowman to learn more about how the body is really designed and meant to move. Kamini is passionate about alignment and intrigued about how physical alignment supports a positive mindset or ‘mental alignment’. During the course in Pregnancy Yoga and Alignment she will explain you how to adapt various yoga postures to the needs of your pregnant body, working on an optimal balance between flexibility and strength to prepare your body for birth. In her classes you will learn all about pelvic alignment, on how to get and keep your pelvic floor muscles toned ánd relaxed and why that is important. You will learn not just to squat, but hów to squat to prepare for birth and how to create the optimal birthing space in the (lower opening of the) pelvis.
“Our bodies are made to birth”
I have complete respect for Grace’s strength, positivity, resilience and her willingness to share her story and change the way our world looks at miscarriage. What a story she has and I am blessed she did it with the MTW tribe.

We are two midwives and two mothers and jointly co-founded Nurturing Us.
Together we want to empower women to approach their pregnancy with openness, clarity and knowledge about the connection with their baby before birth. We want to increase women’s awareness that their baby is a conscious, aware and expressive being and that a woman in pregnancy plays an active role in the development and wellbeing of their baby in utero.
We want to inspire women to believe they can make a real difference to the health and emotional wellbeing of their child’s future. The emerging research of epigenetics and peri-natal psychology clearly demonstrates that gratitude, love and connection to yourself as a pregnant woman and with your baby can make a real difference
Together we have gathered the evidence to date and developed a holistic, integrative, collaborative and complimentary approach to empowering confidence in pre-conception and pregnancy.
As women, as mothers and as midwives we hope we can leave a legacy that benefits the mother, her family and her baby as we in turn have journeyed the path with our families.
We aim to make a difference one woman at a time.
This week we have our first interview with a guest on the show for a 2nd time.
I just had to get Damian back on the show again to share his teachings around stress and how when ongoing, it can lead to anxiety, insomnia and even depression and more importantly also how we can get out of it.
It’s once again a high energy episode with a bit of humor between us seeing as we have known each other for 16 years and if you didn’t hear the first (Episode 49) it can be found here which has already had a crazy huge number of downloads and needs to be shared with all mums.
Enjoy this episode!

I’ve been in the health industry now for more than 20 years in many different capacities. As a Naturopath, Nutritionist and Chiropractor I have enjoyed helping thousands of people regain health and vitality through natural approaches. I am continually excited and delighted by the life changes that people experience when they start to trust in their own ability to heal without excessive intervention.
My path through health has been exciting and varied, and at the same time very challenging and rewarding. I love the ability to interact on a one on one basis daily with my practice members and at the same time, I love the ability to educate and inspire people to change through multi media including Radio (Melbourne’s Triple M), TV (Downsize Me, Inside New Zealand, Brian and Bobby, The Exchange) Podcasting (The Wellness Guys and 100 Not Out) and of course in a seminar setting with The Power Of Food and Crack Your Stress Code events. My belief is that both the nervous system and the gastro-intestinal system are both equally influential in the health and longevity of the individual, this is why I love chiropractic (as it deals with the nervous system) and I developed Forage Cereal (to assist the restoration of impeccable health to the gastrointestinal system).
Having combined the philosophies of both Naturopathic and Chiropractic approaches to healing and well-being – I believe that people learn and achieve the most when there is no interference and there is appropriate supply of goodness to allow the body to thrive.
The highest energy guest to date on Mum’s The Word. And we both could have kept talking forever. What a delight Tanya Strusberg was to have on the podcast talking about Lamaze and so much more!

In this week’s Episode of Mum’s The Word we have a hugely inspiring lady and also a mentor for me in both the Birth and Chiropractic word, Dr. Jeanne Ohm. Jeanne opens up and shares her wisdom but also gives her views on why birth can go wrong for women but also how it can go so so right too.
Listen in and you’ll learn why Chiropractic plays an essential role in a woman’s preparation for birth and how it can lead to shorter labor times. Amazing right!? Hence why I’m so passionate about this. Also Jeanne shares from some of the the latest research Chiropractic research currently being conducted and how Chiropractic significantly effects the outcomes of VBAC births for women under chiropractic care differently from those that are not under care during their pregnancy.
